The government telecommunications corporation, the sole internet service provider in Yemen, has announced the departure of 65% of the international capacities due to the heavy rains and torrential torrents.
The Houthi-controlled establishment, said in a statement, “65 percent of the international Internet capacity is out of service due to the heavy rains and torrential torrents that cut optical fibers in a number of governorates.”
They explained that the internet traffic was affected in all governorates due to the cut of optical fiber cables.
They confirmed that its engineering teams are working to return the service.
Yemen has been experiencing heavy rains for nearly two weeks, which resulted in torrential rain, which has affected thousands of families, destroyed thousands of homes, and swept away a large area of agricultural land.
