Local reports indicate that the drug trade has rebounded largely after the coup of the Huthi militia to the legitimate authority.

During the past four years, the militia has intensified the smuggling and marketing activities of various types and forms of drugs to finance its criminal war. Some of the main cities controlled by the militia have become open markets for these banned substances.
