Yemeni forces backed by the Arab Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy announced on Saturday the control of the eastern entrance to the city of Hodeidah, west of the country, after fierce fighting with the Houthi group.
A fierce battle with the Houthis culminated in the takeover of the eastern entrance to the city, so-called Victory wall.
The statement added that the control “comes after a large military operation, launched on Friday, with the support of the Arab Alliance, to liberate Hodeidah and port,” asserting “the fall of dozens of Houthis between dead and wounded.”
In the context, a military source, who preferred not to be named, said the operation, which was launched yesterday, “will not stop until the city of Hodeidah completely cleared.”
The source said, “The fighting takes place in large parts of Kilo 16 and Kilo 10, in the east of the city.”
The operation, which began on Friday, is the resumption of a large-scale military campaign launched midway this year to control the coastal city and its strategic port.
