The Governor of Hadramout Province, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Saeed Bin Break said that the preliminary information indicated that two ships; Austrian and Australian ones, had rescued two of the boat passengers who drowned last Tuesday night within 26 nautical miles north-west of the island of Socotra so far and carries 60 passengers of women, children and men. He Referred to the local authority of the province had declared a state of emergency , alert and moved the Coast Guard and addressed to the Alliance forces and all the nearby site of the ships to take part in rescue operations for passengers of Socotra island sinking in the sea.
The Governor of Hadramout added that it was based on communication and guidance of His Excellency the President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, , who followed the situation and formed two joint operation cabin with the alliance forces in Mukalla and Socotra with the continuation of rescue and search operations and the wide participation of Air Alliance forces from the United Arab Emirates and the Coast Guard as well as the Austrian and Australian ships.
Maj. Gen. Bin Break said that the authorities received reports of an Austrian ship a that a small boat was sinking within 26 nautical miles north-west of the island of Socotra.
They contacted and communicated directly with the Minister of Fisheries and the Governor of Socotra to move quickly and follow-up communication and to start the rescue operation at the time. The Governor expressed his hope in Allah to find more survivors during the ongoing rescue operations and prayed to Allah Almighty for kindness and safety.
