The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works attaches great importance to the education sector in the Socotra Archipelago in the framework of the humanitarian and development efforts that it is exerting in order to improve the educational process and improve its outputs. The Foundation has adopted a package of infrastructure projects for educational facilities, including building and maintaining schools and providing them with the necessary equipment, in addition to printing educational curricula, distributing school bags for students, and providing support to teachers and the educational sector in the island that is going through difficult situations.

A new class of Socotra students left for high school graduates in order to complete their academic studies in Egyptian universities within the educational grant offered by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation for Humanitarian Action.

This is the third batch that leaves Socotra to study abroad and includes about 38 male and female students. These grants come within the interest that the institution attaches to the education sector in Socotra Governorate and its efforts to scientifically build and develop Socotra to find a specialized cadre in the areas that Socotra needs.

Male and female students, during their departure from Socotra International Airport, expressed their happiness with this grant, which will enable them to complete their education in the disciplines that will benefit the island in the future, valuing the generous and unlimited support that the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation gives to humanitarian work and the United Arab Emirates in general to the educational sector and the people of the island in various ways.

Over the past 5 years, the UAE has made clear imprints in the educational sector through the generous and unlimited support enjoyed by schools, teachers and students.

These Emirati efforts contributed to creating and normalizing the educational atmosphere through the package of development projects that have been implemented, including building new schools, rehabilitation and maintenance of old schools and providing them with integrated school equipment to receive students naturally in previous school years.

The teaching staff also received the provision of salaries and the implementation of qualification and training plans for male and female teachers in order to improve performance and educational outcomes. The support also included the distribution of bags and uniforms, printing of educational curricula and providing them to cover the shortfall in textbooks.

The Emirati support for the educational sector in Socotra was praised and appreciated by the people of the island, especially the educational leaders, who emphasized that the efforts made represent one of the bright pages in the record of the siblings’ charity in the island.
