UAE Red Crescent Society launches Operation Of Five New Wells In Mukalla

Under the auspices of the governor of Hadramout province, Maj.Gen. Ahmed Saeed Bin Break, the UAE Red Crescent Society launched, last Sunday morning, the project of five new artesian water wells in the field of Flok in the easte of Mukalla, after the completion of all civil works to connect them with pumps, which is part of the important infrastructure supported by UAE Red Crescent Society’s projects in the coastal areas of Hadramout.

At the opening ceremony which was attended by Vice President of the UAE relief team in Hadramout, Mr. Khalifa Al-Nayadi with the secretary of the Governor for the relief and reconstruction, Riadh Bin Taleb Al Kathiri , the general manager of Mukalla Directorate Dr Abdulbaqi Alhuthrey , the General Director of Water Foundation and sanitation in the coastal region of Hadramout, engineer Waheeb Ghanem and his consultant Awad Salem Alganzel and administrators of UAE Crescent projects, Shawqi Al-Tamimi and Khalil Al-Tamimi.

Accordingly Riyad Bin Taleb Al-Kathiri expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Red Crescent Society of the United Arab Emirates for its outstanding benevolent and contributions in Hadramout in different aspects; such as rebuilding its infrastructure projects, as well as aspects related to projects of relief, health and education.

He Pointed out that the opening of the wells project after completion of all civil works to connect them with pumps is part of charitable efforts undertaken by the society in alleviating the suffering of the citizens of access to water in the city of Mukalla and its suburbs.

For his part, the Chairman of the UAE relief team in Hadramout, Mr. Matar Ketbi, said in a press statement in which he explained that the Commission was keen to follow up the project which is completed on time and the specifications agreed upon, in order to alleviate the suffering of the citizens. He stressed that the quality of water in the well, which was inaugurated today is one of the fresh water, and it has been tested in the laboratory earlier to ensure its suitability for the health and environment of the citizens.

He added that the Commission is seeking in the context of humanitarian and relief projects to provide better services in development and infrastructure projects and relief projects. He pointed out that this project has a special significance for the people of Mukalla, where there will be benefits for about 210 thousand people and will contribute to meet the water growing needs in the eastern areas especially.

For his part, Manager of Water and Sanitation, engineer Waheeb Ghanem who stressed that the five wells project in Flok field produce about 8 thousand cubic meters of water and benefit for more than 27 thousand housing units and other health and instruction and commercial service. He pointed out that the five launch process of the wells will contribute to the acute shortage of commissary in the number of residential neighborhoods in Mukalla.

Mr. Ghanem thanked the local authority’s efforts in Hadramout represented by the Major General Ahmed Saeed Bin Break who is closely following the implementation of this important project, as well as to the UAE Red Crescent on funding for the completion of this vital project, which will improve water service to citizens significantly starting from the day ceremony. The total cost of the project is 217 million riyals, and entered into operational service at a cost of 14,000,400 thousand riyals as well as the provision of five electric submersible pumps and accessories at a cost of 40,000,596 thousand riyals.

The people of Mukalla expressed their satisfaction and excited happiness to realize the completion of the five wells project and the completion of all civil works to connect them with pumps. They also gave their thanks and gratitude for the United Arab Emirates, which has funded the project in record time.

The UAE Red Crescent Society implemented, since the start of its operations in the coastal areas of Hadhramout after the liberation from the terrorist elements in the last April, many projects in the relief, health aspects and infrastructure through its duty to help the people of Hadramout to overcome the crises that passed by.
